Brake & Clutch Repairs in Brisbane

Squealing brakes, a soft pedal, a slipping clutch? Memmotts Automotive repairs brakes and clutches on all makes and models — including European specialist work on BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW and Land Rover — at our Windsor and Grange workshops. Safety-first inspections and honest fixed quotes.

BrakesBrake repairs and servicing

Brakes are the one system you never want to gamble on. We inspect the full system — pads, rotors, calipers, lines, fluid and electronics — and tell you plainly what needs doing now and what can wait. Our brake work includes:

  • Brake pad and rotor replacement (machining where appropriate)
  • Brake fluid flushes and hydraulic repairs
  • Caliper service and replacement
  • Electric park brake service and diagnostics
  • ABS and stability control fault diagnosis
  • Brake wear sensor replacement on European vehicles

ClutchesClutch repairs and replacement

A clutch that slips, shudders or feels heavy is telling you something. We replace clutch kits, flywheels (including dual-mass flywheels), and repair clutch hydraulics — master and slave cylinders — on manuals of every make. For automated manuals like VW’s DSG and Audi’s S tronic, we service and repair the clutch packs and mechatronics as well. You’ll get a clear diagnosis and a fixed quote before we open anything up.

What to watch forSigns your brakes or clutch need attention

For brakes: squealing or grinding, a soft or spongy pedal, the car pulling to one side under brakes, a pulsing pedal, or a brake warning light. For clutches: slipping under acceleration, shudder on take-off, a high or heavy pedal, or difficulty selecting gears. Any of these is worth an inspection sooner rather than later — brake and clutch problems only get more expensive with kilometres.

FAQsBrake & clutch FAQs

How long do brake pads last?

It varies enormously with driving style and vehicle — anywhere from 25,000 to 70,000 km is common. We measure actual pad thickness at every service, so you’ll always know how much is left.

Do you machine rotors or always replace them?

Where rotors are within manufacturer thickness limits, machining is a legitimate, cheaper option and we’ll offer it. Where they’re below limits, replacement is the only safe call — we’ll show you the measurements either way.

How do I know if my clutch is slipping?

The classic sign is revs rising without the car accelerating to match, especially in higher gears or up hills. A burning smell after hill starts is another. Book an inspection — caught early, you may only need an adjustment or hydraulic repair rather than a full clutch.

Do you service DSG and dual-clutch transmissions?

Yes — DSG and S tronic fluid and filter services, clutch pack replacement and mechatronic repairs are regular jobs in our workshops. See our VW Service Centre page for more.
