Why usWhy choose Memmotts for auto electrical

Memmotts Automotive has been a family-owned Brisbane workshop since 1956 — started by Robert Memmott and now run by second-generation owner Ray Memmott. That’s a long time diagnosing electrical gremlins, and it shows in the way we work: we tell you honestly what’s wrong, what needs doing now and what can wait, rather than pushing you toward a costly new system you may not need. Our electricians are industry-trained with wide experience across all makes and models, and we hold a genuine European specialty backed by diagnostic equipment for every vehicle. With two northside workshops in Windsor and Grange, and as an RACQ Approved Inspection Station and RACQ member, we’re an easy, trusted choice for auto electrical work close to home.

What to watch forSigns you need an auto electrician

Electrical faults often start small before they leave you stranded. It’s worth booking in if you notice any of these:

  • A dashboard warning or engine light that won’t go away
  • The car is slow to start, or the starter just clicks
  • A battery that keeps going flat, or dim/flickering headlights
  • Power windows, central locking or reversing cameras acting up
  • Electrical accessories cutting out or behaving intermittently

Catching these early usually means a simpler, cheaper repair. Bring it to our Windsor or Grange workshop and our team will trace the fault to its source and get it sorted.

FAQsAuto electrical FAQs

What does an auto electrician do?

An auto electrician diagnoses and repairs a vehicle’s electrical and electronic systems — batteries, alternators, starter motors, wiring, lighting, ignition, and the control modules (ECM, BCM, TCM) that run modern cars. At Memmotts we read the fault codes, trace the cause and repair it properly across all makes, including European vehicles.

Can you find out why my engine warning light is on?

Yes. We read the stored fault codes with up-to-date diagnostic equipment, then work out what’s actually causing the light — rather than just clearing it. Once we’ve identified the fault we’ll explain what’s involved and repair it.

Do you work on European cars?

Yes — European vehicles are a specialty at Memmotts. We’re fully equipped with diagnostic tools and equipment for every vehicle, including all European makes, so we can handle their electrical systems and modules with confidence.

My car needs a new electrical system — should I just replace it?

Talk to us first. Often an electrical fault comes down to a single component or a wiring issue that can be repaired, rather than a full new system. Don’t spend money on a brand-new system before you’ve had us diagnose the actual problem.

Where are you located and what are your hours?

We have two northside Brisbane workshops: Windsor (Unit 1, 14 Cox Road, Windsor QLD 4030) and Grange (142 Days Road, Grange QLD 4051). Both are open Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. You can book online via our booking page.
